Needless to say because of my title, but I am a HUGE West Wing fan, and love anything Seinfeld. My parents started me young on these shows, I watched the 7th season of the West Wing when it first aired, and have seen Seinfeld for as long as I can remember. Why did all the good shows end in the late 90s? However, I do love some trashy shows on tv today. Real Housewives is so dramatic, and has no point. I think that this is the brilliance of that show. If you get a bunch of fame-hogging women together in a room, it can make for some entertaining television. I also can watch marathons of Say Yes to the Dress. It drives my brother crazy.
The shows that I absolutely cant stand are the sitcoms on today that all follow the same storyline, have poor actors, and use the same boring punch lines. Sitcom writers need to get their act together.
I think that today tv is mostly used for a social entertainment purpose. Yes commercials are trying to entice you to buy something, but I don’t think there are any subliminal messages or malicious intent in this. Of course, an excess of anything is bad, but tv in moderation can be great. But no one should like people, events, or places on tv better than those in their own lives. We need to be absorbed in whats around us, not on what is being played in a box. Lastly, you are not a bad person for liking tv. Everyone likes at least one tv show, if not then they are lying.
